SKYAID | GPS at Skyaid.org updated 10/12/02 Traxis appears to have a tiny GPS antenna which can be built into watches, cell-phones, etc. added 03/16/02 Globallocate GL-16000 GPS chip requires less than 0.0005 percent of battery charge per fix, far lower than competing technologies. The processor is capable of acquiring satellite signals below -158dBm, enabling GPS signal reception indoors. It is a tiny 8mm x 8mm and is expected to cost only $10 in large quantity. Acquisition time varies from 1/10 second outdoors to seconds indoors. They teamed with Fujitsu in Feb 2002 This is different than the SnapTrack system which Qualcom bought. They apparently have servers around the world, but it is not clear if this has been interfaced to cell-phone providers. GPS Magazine had article on it in Sept 2001. added 03/13/02 |
