Subject: India 30 min to 60 min delay from accident
People are either transported by good Samaritans or by the police. The police are usually the first to arrive (not ambulances)-anything within
30 min to an hour to an accident site. They do not have first aid kits or stretchers, just a jeep and a wireless.
They have no real first aid training, though are supposed to be trained.
As I have the tendency to help anyone on the road, have gotten into altercations with them-for example- due to their mishandling an
unconscious person (head injury) who's airway I have kept patent and stabilized the spine. What I've seen them doing is then grabbing the person by the feet and
dragging the person (head bumping on the road all the way through...) and then bundling the person into their vehicle. It breaks my heart and
makes me fume and yell at them. Which is why I and my organization are trying to do the things we are.
