Sudden Cardiac Death

Sidney Golstein, et. al 1994    Chart from Framingham Study – 1984 is on pg 81

Risk of sudden death per 100,000 males by multivariate risk decile, where the variables are age, systolic blood pressure, vital capacity, cigarette per day, relative weight, and heart rate.

43, 75, 104, 135, 170, 214, 271, 357, 524, 1310

Thus, the highest risk males had a 1.3% chance of sudden death each year.
Note: this highest decile accounts for 42% of all sudden deaths.

Chapter 15 Sudden Infant Death Syndrome

SIDS rate varies widely. There are generally fewer SIDS in warmer climates.

SIDs rates per 1000 live births have been:
6 Alaska
3.0 Canada
2.5 Ohio, Seattle, Great Britain
1.5 California
1.2 Japan
0.8 Czechoslovakia, Denmark
0.6 Sweden
0.2 Spain
0.05 Italy

Chart for King County (Seattle) shows that the majority of SIDS occur from 30-150 days, with very few after 180 days. Pg 228
