Skyaid / Skycar e-mail update added
10/07/00
Skyaid might offer a sequence of awards (Trophies, certificates, plaques,
sometimes money.) to encourage VTOL development
People like to earmark donations to specific things like awards.
IRS nonprofit form (1023) was submitted for Skyaid Organization on Oct 7
Subscriptions seem like a promising way to market LifeWatch as well as Skyaid
Probably avoid marketing LifeWatch/Skyaid directly to persons whose life may
be saved
Market instead to the loved ones - spouse, children, etc. are likely to fund a
gift, also the employer
LifeWatch Radio Frequency Communications
-spread spectrum = cell phone is nice for low
detectability
but is usually hard to use
inside of buildings, and can not use in areas lacking a forest of cell-phone
towers
-meteor burst communications is great for 200 or so miles,
and can almost always provide a burst
of communications within 60 seconds
This material in italic was added
after the e-mail was sent
The meteor-burst base station
transmits constantly (actually about once per second).
When the LifeWatch wants to transmit it tries to receive the
base station.
As soon as the watch can receive it (99% of the time within 60
seconds) the watch immediately sends the request for help.
The meteor-burst base transmitter would immediately transmit a
confirmation signal.
A meteor communication path is open for 1/4 to 1/2 seconds at a time,
- for 0 to 1,000 miles at 40-50MHz
which is sufficient for 1) base to
watch, 2) watch to base, and then 3) reply of base to watch.
In a subsequent communication (1 to 3 minutes later) the base
station can confirm that
"help is on the
way": EMT, police, fire, Skycar, or what-ever.

Skyaid video (60 seconds) has been OKed by Moller
-we now have a 3D CAD image of their Skycar to composite onto a video
Stroke - being cool is cool - confirmed by another article in the Stroke
Journal
http://www.skyaid.org/Skyaid%20Org/Medical/Stroke_mortality_less_with_lower_temp.htm
- but probably have to wait 10 years for FDA to approve cooling to reduce
stroke mortality
Investigated possibility of creating insurance to pay 9-1-1 to transport
stoke/heart attack victim
to a often distance critical care center. It looks promising, by may not be
possible in some states
Need some way to connect Skyaid Watch request for help with the correct 9-1-1
dispatch center
The SCC911.COM company will be providing this exact service (US only probably)
Skyaid Watch manufacturer status
- Seiko seems to have bowed out
- Casio has yet to respond to a request this week
- Timex seems to be reluctant to consider anything which they did not invent,
but I am trying anyway
Possible alternate to GPS for location in some areas of US
E911 will eventually (2002-2005) provide location service
which should be accurate enough
Still a problem getting communication inside of buildings or in rural areas
Loc8.net seems to be providing a tagging system which will use E911
I called them on Friday - More details to follow
