Overview updated Feb 2001   Executive Overview -old    Old Items   Moller's Skycar web site

Copy of Feb 2002 newsletter from Moller Inc. added 02/12/02

The M400 Skycar successfully completed an initial stable, tethered, out of ground effect hover on Jan 7, 2002. {hooray!!} They anticipate this January to achieve their technical milestone of a 1 minute hovering flight at 10 feet above the ground, which will initiate many 60 and 90 day stock options. Moller apparently became an SEC "reporting company" on 11/21/01,  and will soon be publicly traded.  Moller will have a press release soon to some 600 news services.  This information was abstracted from Moller Jan 2002 news brief, and is not yet at their website.  added 1/23/02

Notice that Skycar Specifications below have changed this 1991 information    added 1/08/01

Skycar Air Traffic Management can be developed at low cost. New Zealand ATC upgrade for trans-ocean cost only $4.5 million, whereas the US-FAA similar project skyrocketed above the initial $140 million estimate. From Wall St. Journal Dec 29 added 12/29/00

Skycar can provide ultra-fresh food: I calculated back in 1993 that a Skycar service to fly fresh fish from a fishing boat 300 miles out at sea would make a modest profit with cargo of 10 cents per pound.  Such as service would provide much fresher food AND eliminate several days of non-productive travel time for the fishing boat.  Another example of the need for fresher food is the desire by the Japanese to buy only the 'same day' milk.

NASA has an Icing Wind tunnel. Nice for future testing of M-400.
Winds up to 430 MPH in a test section which is 6' high, 9' wide and 20' long
Temperature is controlled from -20 to +40 degrees F
Water droplets can range from 10 to 300 micros   added 10/02/00

GM in Feb 2000 did "not rule out flying"  added 10/01/00

Skycar noise level will be same as freeway at 50 feet 8/20/00

Liquid Natural Gas is a good potential fuel for the Skycar  7/20/00

Maintenance Free Operating Period - Fly for weeks without any repairs
- a concept apparently initiated by Airbus.  Works well for Skycar too.
