Skycar flights will disturb 33,000 times fewer neighbors than jet    added 06/07/01

Number of seats in aircraft

.03

6 seats / 200 seats

Weight of aircraft per seat

.44

2.3 more weight for jet

Range of direction for take-off

.11

20 / 180 degree

Distance which the take-off can be heard

.02

500’ / 10,000’

Net = .00003 less sound to bother neighbors.

The above table assumes the same sound level from a propulsion system per pound of aircraft.
However, VTOL aircraft will generally have more sound per aircraft pound than conventional aircraft.

The Skycar, however, is expected to be quieter than most VTOL/STOL
because the engines are covered by ducts and it has mufflers.

The sound level of the Skycar in 2005 is expected to be 76 db.
76 db = sound level 50 feet from a freeway
Note: 76 db = sound level 25 feet from a single auto traveling 65 miles per hour
